Tincture of propolis is a transparent liquid of a dark brown color, with a specific smell and bitter taste, with a sample on the tongue has an anesthetic effect, while storing precipitation may occur.
Tincture of propolis has such properties:

Contraindications Propolis tincture:
– Individual intolerance to any of the components of the drug;
– Allergic reactions to bee products (reactions in the form of burning, itching, swelling, as well as headache, weakness, fever.). There are cases of severe allergic manifestations, which require urgent medical attention;
– Contraindicated to people suffering from acute eczema, pollinosis, atonic bronchial asthma, urticaria, allergic rhinitis, dermatitis, diathesis;
– Bleeding from affected areas of the skin or mucous membranes;
– Propolis does not interfere with taking medications, unless, of course, you do not combine the medication and tinctures. Between reception of a medicine and a propolis should pass or take place even two hours;
– Although propolis is a nontoxic drug, one must beware of taking it in large doses to those who have allergic reactions to bee venom and other beekeeping products;
– In order to prevent the onset of allergic reactions, a very small dose of propolis is prescribed for the first dose, or a provocative test is performed: the propolis extract is applied to the mucous membrane of the pharyngeal back or soft palate and observed for 30 minutes. If on-site application of propolis blister application or severe hyperemia is observed, treatment with its preparations should not be carried out;
– Sometimes contraindications to the use of propolis are diseases of internal organs, since there is no definitive data on the effect of propolis preparations on their activity. In case of injuries, the affected areas of the skin are lubricated with tincture 2-3 times / day.
When otitis in the external ear canal after cleansing, a soaked cotton swab is injected or 1-2 drops of the drug are injected 3-4 times / day.
With pharyngitis or tonsillitis tincture of propolis lubricate the mucous membranes of the pharynx and tonsils 2-3 times / day or irrigation with an aqueous solution of the drug (dilute the tincture with warm water in a ratio of 1:20).
The adnexal sinuses are washed with a mixture of tincture with physiological saline (0.9% sodium chloride solution) in a ratio of 1:10, the duration of the course of treatment is usually 4 days.
When periodontal, periodontal cavities are injected with soaked cotton swabs.
When rinsing the mouth with lesions and mucous membrane damage, 30-40 drops of propolis tinctures are dissolved in 100 ml of warm water.
Side effects:
When treated with alcohol tincture of propolis (mainly when it is misused), there may be lethargy, worsening of appetite, an increase in the number of leukocytes in the blood, and sometimes allergic reactions, less often, fever, weakness and other common symptoms disappearing after discontinuation of propolis treatment. Therefore, if you decide to buy a tincture of propolis for treatment, you must strictly follow the dosage of the drug!
